OpenWhispr takes a fundamentally different approach. OpenAI Whisper and NVIDIA Parakeet models are downloaded once and run entirely on your computer. After initial setup, the app never needs to contact a server. Your transcription works the same whether you're connected to fiber optic or sitting in airplane mode.
How Offline Transcription Works
Choose from OpenAI Whisper and NVIDIA Parakeet models in various sizes. Download once over WiFi, then the model lives on your machine permanently. Larger models are more accurate; smaller models are faster.
Transcription runs on your CPU/GPU using whisper.cpp and NVIDIA Parakeet. No server calls, no API keys, no internet. Just your hardware doing the work.
