The problem with Spanish clinical documentation
The consult ends. The historia clínica is still blank.
You still owe the anamnesis, exploración, diagnóstico, tratamiento, informe de alta, and sometimes a prescription. Every line still needs your review.
The Spanish note starts after the patient leaves.
The findings are fresh, but the historia clínica is empty. Dictate the note while you still remember the sequence, then review it before filing.
Drug names, doses, and accents need a final check.
Select Spanish before you dictate. Store recurring patient names, drug names, and clinic abbreviations in the custom dictionary, then check every dose and clinical term before filing.
Your PIMS does not need a new integration.
OpenWhispr does not connect to QVET, Provet Cloud, GVET, WinVet, Wirevet, or Word. It produces text you can paste into a standard editable field, so you keep the workflow you already use.
A prescription still needs a veterinarian.
Dictation can type the details. It cannot examine the animal, choose treatment, validate required fields, or sign the prescription. You stay responsible for reviewing the record in the approved system.
What you get
Pick Spanish. Keep your PIMS.
Select Spanish, press the hotkey, then review what lands in the field. No migration and no new record system.

Spanish is an actual speech setting
Select Spanish during setup or in settings. The shipped app lists Spanish for local Whisper and Parakeet models as well as supported cloud transcription.

From the microphone to a PIMS-ready transcript
Use the system-wide hotkey in a clinical history, discharge, referral, email, or Word document. Automatic paste is a setting and needs the required OS permission. The clipboard option keeps text available for manual paste.

A local option when the connection drops
Download a local model once, then Spanish dictation can run on the computer without internet. Local models are unlimited and included on every plan.

10 reasons Spanish-speaking vets choose OpenWhispr
Spanish is a speech setting in the app. The hotkey, local models, dictionary, and automatic-paste or clipboard workflow stay the same across your desktop.
Spanish appears in the language picker
Spanish is a selectable spoken language in the shipped onboarding and settings flow.
Two local model families list Spanish
The app's model registry includes Spanish for local Whisper and multilingual Parakeet transcription.
No dedicated PIMS integration required
If a PIMS field accepts pasted text, use automatic paste or the clipboard. No dedicated QVET, Provet Cloud, GVET, WinVet, or Wirevet integration is claimed.
Use the sections your team already knows
Dictate anamnesis, exploración, diagnóstico, tratamiento, evolución, or informe de alta without changing the record's structure.
Keep recurring terms in one list
The custom dictionary stores the patient names, drug names, procedures, and abbreviations you add. You still verify each result.
Local Spanish dictation can work offline
After the local model is downloaded, transcription runs on the computer without an internet connection.
Unlimited local models cost $0
The Free plan includes unlimited local models, Spanish support, and the custom dictionary.
Mac, Windows, and Linux
Use the same Spanish dictation workflow across all three supported desktop platforms.
The cleanup instruction is set for Spanish
The instruction asks for Spanish grammar, spelling, and punctuation while keeping naturally spoken English technical terms. Review the result before filing.
It does not pretend to prescribe
OpenWhispr types what you dictate. The veterinarian still examines the animal, chooses treatment, checks the required fields, and signs in the approved system.

ES
Selectable speech language
Spanish appears in the shipped language registry for local and cloud transcription.
Started using OpenWhispr with my local models and hardware. I have to say, this is better than typing.
I switched to voice input for my Claude Code chats. Even when I stumble and rephrase mid-sentence, the transcription comes out clean and polished.
I needed a local model for when I'm travelling or have no WiFi, and this perfectly solves it. The UI and performance are great.

Why we built it
Spanish should be a setting, not a workaround.
OpenWhispr gives veterinary teams a direct path from spoken Spanish to the clinical field already open on screen. The app handles dictation. The veterinarian keeps the terminology review, clinical judgment, and signature.
We build in public. Every release and every line of the app is on GitHub, where 5,000+ engineers have starred and forked the project. So when we say the dictation can stay on your machine, nobody in your practice has to take our word for it. They can read the code.
And if anything breaks, you talk to the people who built it, in Discord.
