The trade-offs product teams notice
Your roadmap shouldn't live on a notetaker's server.
You want the decisions written down. You don't want a bot in every call, or your strategy sitting on a transcription vendor's cloud.
A bot shows up to every meeting.
Meeting bots can make a sensitive discovery call feel different. OpenWhispr captures your computer's audio, so it does not join the call.
Your strategy on a vendor's server.
Roadmap, pricing, competitive analysis, reorg talk: product meetings can cover sensitive work. Choose a local model when you want transcription to run on your device.
Someone stops contributing to take notes.
The PM types instead of facilitating, and the decision still gets lost. OpenWhispr writes up the decisions, action items and owners, so everyone stays in the discussion.
Per-seat pricing for the whole org.
Choose the mode and plan that fit the team. Local transcription is unlimited on every plan; Free includes 5 hours of meeting recordings a month, Pro adds unlimited Cloud transcription and 20 recording hours, and Business includes unlimited meeting recordings.
What you get
AI meeting notes for product teams, made on your own laptop.
Pick local models and the roadmap discussion is transcribed and summarized on your machine.

Captures the call from your computer, no bot
Listens to your computer's audio on Zoom, Meet, Teams or a Slack huddle, or to the mic for a standup in the room. Transcribed on your device with a local model, and nothing joins the call.

Decisions, action items and owners
Turns your rough notes and the transcript into a structured write-up: what was decided, what happens next, who owns it. You review before it's shared.

Paste it where the work lives
Copy the clean write-up into Linear, Jira, Notion or Slack. It's text, so there's nothing to connect to your tracker.

No convincing needed
10 reasons product teams choose OpenWhispr
Choosing a notetaker is a security decision before it's a note-taking one. Here are the facts, and your security team can verify the privacy ones line by line in the repo.
The roadmap call never reaches a server
Pick a local model and transcription runs on your machine. The open-source code shows no upload step on that path.
No bot in the call
It captures your computer's audio, so nothing appears in the participant list. Your customer never sees a notetaker.
Every seat is free, including the quiet ones
Unlimited local meeting notes at $0, for everyone who ever sits in a call. Only the cloud side is metered.
Works with any meeting app
Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack huddles, Webex, a standup in the room. It captures audio, not a specific app.
Decisions and owners, not just transcripts
The write-up is structured with decisions, action items and follow-ups. Where an owner is clear in the transcript, it uses that speaker label. You don't write the prompt.
No meeting-app integration to approve
No meeting-app plugin or bot account to approve. It's a desktop app that listens to your computer's audio.
The recording is deleted after the meeting
Temporary diarization audio is removed after processing. You control the recordings and transcripts saved in the app.
Read the code before you pick the tool
OpenWhispr is open source. Your security team can read the code on GitHub.
No signal, same write-up
A standup in a room with bad WiFi, a customer site, a plane. Local models need no signal.
Who said what, worked out on your machine
Speaker labels are computed on your own device, free on every plan. The write-up says who owns cutting scope, rather than merely that someone said it.

The questions product teams ask first.
Straight answers on bots, your data and cost. If yours isn't here, ask us in Discord.
Does the meeting audio ever leave my device?
Does a bot join the call?
Will it get our feature names and acronyms right?
Do the AI meeting notes capture decisions and owners, not just a transcript?
Will it work for an in-person standup with no call?
Is it actually free?
What users say
Built by people who don't want a bot in their meetings either.
From our Discord, GitHub and inboxes, the same instinct that matters when the roadmap's on screen.

Roadmap calls on a vendor's server
In local mode, transcription runs on your device. Cloud transcription is optional, and its audio is discarded after transcription.
Started using OpenWhispr with my local models and hardware. I have to say, this is better than typing.
I switched to voice input for my Claude Code chats. Even when I stumble and rephrase mid-sentence, the transcription comes out clean and polished.
I needed a local model for when I'm travelling or have no WiFi, and this perfectly solves it. The UI and performance are great.

Built in the open
Some meetings decide the roadmap. We built for those.
OpenWhispr started with a simple objection: the meeting where you decide the roadmap shouldn't have to pass through a stranger's server to become a write-up.
OpenWhispr is open source. Your security team can inspect how local transcription works before putting it in roadmap meetings.
And if anything breaks, you talk to the people who built it, in Discord.
